Moscow explosion: Three dead and 21 injured after bomb detonates at busy restaurant Three people have been killed as more fight for their live in hospital after a homemade explosive device was detonated at an Italian restaurant in Moscow, Russia An explosion at a restaurant in central Moscow has killed at least three people, according to Russian state media. At least 21 people were injured in the explosion with some left fighting for their lives as investigators, forensic experts and emergency services continue working at the scene. A homemade explosive device was detonated at the Italian eatery in Kudrinskaya Square. The bomber, as well as a security guard and a diner, died in the blast at the trendy Balzi Rossi. The National Anti-Terrorist Committee said a woman carrying explosives attempted to enter the restaurant but was stopped. The device then went off, killing the woman, the guard and a visitor. The blast happened at around 8pm local time (5pm UK). The attack is still being investigated, the Moscow Investigative Committee told the RIA news agency, who released a video showing heavily armed law enforcement officers at the scene. Roads nearby have been closed off to members of the public. Witnesses said they saw people leaving covered in blood following the explosion. Authorities have not named those killed or injured and have yet say who they thought might have been responsible. Those injured in the attack had received wounds of varying seriousness, according to police. The exclusive restaurant's website stated that it was closed on Saturday for private event on its outdoor terrace. Balzi Rossi is located at the base of the Kudrinskaya Square Building, one of Moscow’s Stalinist skyscrapers, which were built in the 1950s. “We’re all fine, and our restaurant and kitchen are in perfect condition; there was just a minor issue at the restaurant entrance,” Balzi Rossi chef Carmine Alfieri said on Instagram without elaborating further. Dozens of cyclists had been gathering nearby for an evening ride.
