Fans say ‘Man City need 115 charges related to rigged Carabao Cup draws’ after being left raging at quarter-final ties

FOOTIE fans outrageously claimed the Carabao Cup quarter-final draw was “rigged” moments after the final ball was drawn. The draw for the quarter-finals, which will be played the week of December 14, took place on Wednesday night. It was held immediately after the mouth-watering fourth-round tie between Liverpool and Chelsea at Anfield, which the Reds won on penalties. And it threw up some intriguing fixtures. Fleetwood Town, who dumped out reigning Premier League champions Arsenal, will face the winner of the last fourth-round tie between Everton and Newcastle on Thursday night. The quarter-finals will feature two all-Premier League affairs, with Liverpool facing Bournemouth at Anfield and Crystal Palace welcoming Sunderland to Selhurst Park. Several, however, weren’t best pleased and baselessly claimed that City getting Bradford was proof the draw had been “rigged” in their favour. One wrote on X: “City need 115 charges relating to rigged league cup draws alone.” Most read in Sport SUN VEGAS WELCOME OFFER: GET UP TO £100 BONUS Carabao Cup quarter-final draw in full Liverpool vs Bournemouth Crystal Palace vs Sunderland Manchester City vs Bradford Fleetwood vs Everton/Newcastle A Liverpool fan said: “The EFL Cup is rigged. “OFC they don’t want City to face us.” Another fan said: “Rigged bulls**t to benefit Man City.” One remarked: “What a surpriseeeeee. “Rigged draw rigged competition city always getting lower league opponents 🤡 114.” Another chimed in: “Of course City get Bradford at home draw totally ain’t rigged.” Fans claiming the draw was “rigged” in City’s favour have, of course, provided NO EVIDENCE to substantiate their wild claims. The draw, which was conducted live on Sky Sports, isn’t in any way fixed as the balls were mixed in front of an audience of thousands before picked out by Conor Coady and Graeme Le Saux. Fans’ focus on City doesn’t come as a surprise, as they were found GUILTY of more than 100 breaches of Premier League financial rules last month. City have appealed the bombshell verdict and are confident the evidence in their possession will exonerate them of any wrongdoing.
