Three points from Arsenal’s draw at Bayern as struggling star redeems himself but Saka’s injury a real concern

Article text

ARSENAL snatched a draw at the home of Champions League giants Bayern Munich thanks to Declan Rice’s late leveller. Eberechi Eze put the Gunners ahead in the 25th minute before Alphonso Davies and Harry Kane swung the pendulum in Bayern’s favour. Rice then popped up with a low, drilled finish eight minutes from the end of normal time as Arsenal picked up a good point, which was tarnished only by Bukayo Saka hobbling off early on. The result extends the North Londoners’ league phase unbeaten run to a whopping 15 matches. SunSport’s Arsenal correspondent Simon Collings goes through three key talking points from the Allianz Arena. That’s the spirit! It was a brilliant game of football and a really good result for Arsenal given the circumstances. READ MORE ON ARSENAL We talk a lot about Arsenal’s style, don’t we? And maybe you can question that, but you cannot question their spirit. What a brilliant performance. They showed so much heart, so much hunger at the Allianz Arena. When you go behind and it’s your chief tormentor, Harry Kane, you could easily lose heart. But Arsenal didn’t and they deserve a lot of credit for that. He was hooked at half-time and could not get into the match. Here, he comes off the bench, scores a goal and looks absolutely fantastic. Eze was really, really impressive, and that could be a big thing given Bukayo Saka’s injury. Sak’d off This is probably the one downer from tonight. The one concern Arsenal will have going forward is just how bad the injury could be. I’ve got to admit, he did not look very good. He went down immediately, put his hand in the air and signalled that he needed to come off. A few of the players did the same. Saka went over to Mikel Arteta before going down the tunnel and appeared to be holding his left quad. He was walking very, very gingerly. It is a real concern for Arsenal and a dampener on what was otherwise a brilliant night. They are still unbeaten in the Champions League, looking like a real force and they’ll be dreaming about going deep again this season.
