Dope smokers should be reported to police by their neighbours, says Tory Chris Philp
WEED smokers should be shopped to the police by their neighbours, the aspiring Tory Home Secretary has said. Chris Philp said he would personally snitch on his neighbours if he caught them doing cannabis anti-socially. The former Policing Minister said he would expect cops to respond to reports of illegal drug taking in communities. Critics have long claimed that taking drugs like marijuana – a Class B substance – has been virtually decriminalised with little enforcement. Asked if he would dob on a neighbour smoking cannabis, Mr Philp told The Sun: “I think if it was associated with anti-social behaviour, yes I would. “But I think it’s really up to the police to always take action when they come across lawbreaking.” READ MORE ON CANNABIS He added: “If it’s antisocial behaviour, then yes. And I would definitely expect the police to always follow it up if they encountered it. “I wouldn’t want the police to ignore it, it’s their job to police that kind of thing.” Mr Philp, who said he has never taken drugs, also said he would confront a shoplifter if he came across one. During his time as a minister he memorably told the public to be have-a-go heroes and make a citizen’s arrest.
