"The Islamic Republic of Iran reserves the right to take appropriate legal measures, as necessary, to safeguard the rights and interests of the country and its people in response to misleading and damaging media narratives." Counter-terrorism policing is continuing its investigation into the incident, with specialist CTP officers having spent the night conducting detailed examinations at the scene. Counter Terrorism Policing Senior National Coordinator, Deputy Assistant Commissioner Vicki Evans, said: "This is a complex and substantial operation involving local and national policing, the Ministry of Defence and partner agencies. "All those involved are working closely together to advance the investigation while ensuring that appropriate support is provided to the local community. “We recognise the considerable disruption residents have experienced." "At this stage, however, I would ask that Counter Terrorism Policing is given the time and space needed to conduct a thorough and careful investigation." Police are holding the men under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act (PACE), and a custody extension has been secured until later today. Police are working to establish the full circumstances of what the arrested men were doing, what they knew, and any motivation behind the incident.
