The Defence Secretary addressed the gathering in Liverpool just hours after a suspected terror plot targeting RAF Fairford was foiled. On Sunday, five men were arrested on suspicion of terrorism and explosives offences after three suspicious vans were found close to the Gloucestershire facility. Counter Terrorism Police have confirmed the suspects are all British male nationals in their 20s from London. RAF Fairford is also an important base for the US Air Force, which was integral to Washington's war with Iran.
