Coleen Rooney admits she ‘wanted to leave Wayne’ amid marriage woes as she fights back tears on reality show

THE new documentary shows how close-knit the Rooneys are, but it also provides candid glimpses of the strains in Wayne and Coleen’s marriage. In one scene she fights back tears as she says: “It’s just been hard, juggling everything. Like, the house is not happy.” She is also heard saying in another: “There is times when, I think, is the answer to see what it was like if we were separated?” She later adds: “But then we still care for each other, we still have good times. You know, we still love each other.” Of the new TV series she says: “No one knows the real Rooneys. This is a side of us we’ve never shown before. “We’re at a stage now where we feel we can open up a bit more, to show people our lives. It’s a massive deal, it’s a thing I’ve always thought I never ever thought I would agree to do.” More on Coleen Rooney Coleen is seen designing for Primark, which means Wayne has to do more chores at their Cheshire mansion. Then, after being sacked as manager of Plymouth Argyle in 2024, he moves into football punditry and eventually gets a full-time gig on Match of the Day. The show reveals how Wayne loves singing and will even try his hand at opera. But Coleen says: “I lack confidence sometimes and I do think that comes from being in the public eye from a young age because I was ‘Wayne’s partner.’ “Maybe that’s why I haven’t done a lot more bigger things before because I haven’t had the belief in myself. Now I want people to see me as me, to prove a point.” Most read in TV Coleen, who got to the final of I’m A Celebrity in 2024, adds: “In the past I found it hard to understand why people are interested in me but then coming out of the jungle I’ve been presented with so many opportunities, it’s given me that little bit of confidence.” However she insists: “We might live in a massive house but me and Wayne, in our hearts, are still just a couple of kids from Liverpool.”
