The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) shared a video that shows the ferry completely engulfed in flames. A search and rescue operation is ongoing with 43 people already rescued. The wife of a man who had gone to Manila earlier this week to visit their children at school says she has been 'crying and praying since last night'. Marlon Magbanua did not arrive at the port at 7pm as expected so his cousin went to the house to inform his wife the boat had caught fire. Anelyn told BBC: "I can't describe what I am feeling right now. I have been crying and praying since last night. "My two-year-old son and I are outside the hospital as we speak. We have nothing but ourselves. It has also been raining." She had been told her husband may be at the hospital but has now been told by officials they have not seen him. As the search operation continues families told the BBC they are heading to the hospital in the hope to find their loved ones. Ann Magbanua said she is anxiously awaiting news of her brother, Marlon, as his wife heads to the hospital because she has heard he had been seen there. The search operation remains ongoing as 86 people remain unaccounted for. Groups of people are assisting the coastguard in helping people from boats. A first responder at the scene has recalled the 'heartbreaking' scenes. They said: "I was one of the people who carried and transported the casualties to the hospital last night. "It’s really heartbreaking. They are one hour away from the main port.” Another person on board the vessel has been rescued, according to the coastguard. The number of those missing now stands at 86. The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) extended condolences "to the families of the missing, and we fully understand the anxiety felt by the families of those who are still unaccounted for". The PCG urged families "who still have missing relatives to report the matter so that we can ensure an accurate accounting of everyone involved". The coastguard have said a "whole-of-government" approach is being applied to the search and rescue operations following the ferry fire. A spokesperson said: "We are working tirelessly on these operations today because we believe that, in situations like this, time is truly of the essence." Coast guard Captain Noemi Cayabyab told a local radio station: “Based on the data we have right now on rescued (42) and the casualties, we still have 87 people who are unaccounted for. “Just to make it clear, this is live data and may change as our search and rescue operations are ongoing.” Cayabyab confirmed that 38 passengers were rescued alongside four crew members. Cayabyab added: “However, we have not yet been able to obtain information from the rescued individuals because we have not been able to speak with them." The Coast Guard have confirmed that the M/V June Aster was engulfed by flames approximately 1.2 nautical miles northeast of Barangay Marcilla, Coron, Palawan on September 9. As the search and rescue operation continues following the blaze the Coast Guard have confirmed that 42 people have been rescued.
