NTAs biggest moments as Alan Carr honoured with bizarre performance and lots of tears The National Television Awards bring together the great and good of the TV world as the stars go head to head in categories like Best Reality Documentary, Best TV Presenter and Best Comedy The National Television Awards returned this year and there were some very special moments. Joel Dommett hosted proceedings from London's O2 Arena, as the stars battled it out to take home prizes in categories including Best Presenter, Best Soap, Best Authored Documentary and Best Comedy. There were tears all round tonight, with a poignant moment from the families of the three girls that were killed in a horrific attack at a dance class in Southport, who won Best Authored Documentary for sharing their memories of their daughters. Alan Carr won the Special Recognition Award, when he was surprised by friends Amanda Holden and Paloma Faith and his friends on the Celebrity Traitors, with an unlikely performance of I Know Him So Well. Emmerdale won big with Jeff Hordley taking home the top prize for Best Serial Drama Performance and also Best Serial Drama. Like this story? Vicky McClure looked staggered in the press room after winning the award for best drama performance for Trigger Point, presented by Suranne Jones. "I'm genuinely shocked - it's a real honour in a category like that." She. beat Ella Bruccoleri, who starred in The Other Bennet Sister, Call the Midwife's Judy Parfitt, Ruth Jones for Run Away and Sheridan Smith for I Fought the Law. She added: "I'm still shocked - I'll still be shocked tomorrow. It's just weird." She said the reason that the viewers loved her bomb disposal expert character Lana Washington was because "she's hard as nails". It's a huge win for Emmerdale, who collected the Serial Drama prize! It was down to Sarah Sugden star Katie Hill to pay tribute to the viewers for voting and the cast and crew who work on the show. It's a Strictly win for Best Entertainment Show, with Karen Carney collecting the award on the team's behalf. Karen and Carlos won last year's show, which was also Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman's final appearances at the helm of the BBC programme. Karen paid tribute to the Strictly stars before wishing everyone on the new show the best of luck. She promised she'd be tuning in from home with a glass of wine. For the first time ever, it's an all female shortlist for the Best Drama Performance. Vicky was presented her award by Suranne Jones for her part as Lana Washington in Trigger Point. There were tears all around from the parents of the children who devastatingly lost their lives in the Southport attack in 2024. They acknowledged that the vote wasn't for them but rather for their children, who were sadly killed in a horrifying attack whilst at a dance class. They thanked the team at BBC Breakfast for telling their story and called them friends now. Kelly cried as her dad and mum Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne were acknowledged in the Authored Documentary category. The daughter of the Black Sabbath rocker was in tears as she watched a video of her dad on screen to start off the nominations for the devastating and emotional category. Brendan O'Carroll was not there to collect Mrs Brown's Boys' award for Best Comedy because he is recovering from an operation. The award was instead collected by the team behind the show, who wished Brendan well. Dermot O'Leary said it was particularly appreciated by This Morning to win the best daytime gong this year, because there had been a lot of change happening at ITV daytime. "We've moved studios and lost a whole part of our workforce, though no fault of their own," he said, swigging from a plastic bottle of white wine. Ben Shephard agreed, saying it had been brilliant to see the programme "bounce back" from the "big changes" Another few wins have come in, including Best Returning Drama for Call the Midwife and Best Reality Competition goes to The Celebrity Traitors. It was a momentous win for David Attenborough in the Best Presenter category, beating Ant and Dec, who have won the award category for over two decades. He used his speech to call for more protection of the wildlife and conserving it for future generations. "It's possible to make small differences. If enough small differences are made, they do something significant," he said. Olivia Attwood and Pete Wicks came together to present the Best Daytime category. It was This Morning who won, with Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley being joined on stage by lots of the show's cast and crew as they paid tribute to every single person working there amid severe cuts at the broadcaster. Alan Carr was surprised with the special recognition award after he was serenaded by Amanda Holden, Paloma Faith, Kate Garraway, Charlotte Church and David Olusoga. Faith was carried onto the stage in a black coffin, in a reference to her dramatic murder by Carr on Celebrity Traitors. In a video tribute, his Traitors co-star said: “Despite the wickedness, despite the cruelty of the man, it’s very hard not to love him.” Claudia Winkleman added: “He’s delicious, isn’t he? I’d like him on a cracker.” Collecting the gong, Carr said: “This is how thick I am , it was only when Paloma came out that I realised it’s me! I Fought The Law wins the New Drama award, and is collected by Sheridan Smith and her co-stars. They dedicated the award to campaigner Ann Ming, whose story about advocating for changes to the double jeopardy law comes to live in the ITV drama. It's a win for Michael McIntyre's Big Show, who takes home the Bruce Forsyth Entertainment Award. "A huge thank you to everyone who voted. I voted too! Thank you to the BBC, it's been a pleasure to make this show," he said. Joel Dommett has taken to the stage and the NTAs have officially begun! Jeremy Clarkson was up on stage to introduce the Hawkstone Farmers Choir, quipping they were the "least orange people in the arena". They kicked off the show with a performance of One Day Like This. Kaleb Cooper has given an update after 11 sheep were stolen, revealing police are currently checking CCTV in an attempt to track down those responsible.He told The Mirror at the NTAs: "We had 11 sheep stolen. It’s in the police’s hands now, so we’re just waiting to hear back from their investigation. "But it’s going to be incredibly hard to track down because, of course, it’s been so dry this year, so we can’t find tracks, you know? They’re checking all the cameras in the local area at the moment to see if they can track it back.”The Clarkson’s Farm star said that while sheep theft was not something he heard about particularly often, its impact on farmers could be devastating."I wouldn’t say it happens a lot. I think it happens, but you don’t hear of it very often. But it’s very serious. You’ve actually taken someone’s livelihood away, you know? [They rely on] that money to keep the farm going, keep people paid and jobs, and so on. So I think it’s very serious. We had 11. I’ve heard of some cases where it’s been about 50."
