Grow up, Mili ED Miliband’s sanctions are better suited to student politics than the grown-up business of international diplomacy. His allegation that Israeli settlers in the West Bank are guilty of “ethnic cleansing” was designed to win the approval of the hard Left. His wrong-headed decision to boycott goods from those settlements will only damage trade and could end up punishing ordinary Palestinians — as well as Brits reliant on Israeli-made medicines. It has also upset our closest allies in Washington and Tel Aviv at a time of rising global tension, leading to the closure of the UK consulate in Jerusalem. Why has Labour done this now — especially as Israel plays a key role in providing vital security intelligence and defence tech to help keep Britain safe?
