Teen, 16, set for court in Tyrone charged with murder of man, 61, two counts of attempted murder & threats to kill

A 16-year old boy is set to appear in court charged with murder, two counts of attempted murder and threats to kill following the death of a 61-year-old man at a home in Co Tyrone. The deceased’s wife and eight-year-old daughter were also found injured at the house in the Lisnahull Road area of Dungannon on Saturday. Emergency services were dispatched to the scene at 10.55am on August 29 after police received a report of an ongoing “disturbance”. The 61-year-old man was found deceased at the scene. He was from Guinea-Bissau but had been living and working in the area for over 20 years. His 48-year-old wife “had sustained non-life threatening injuries” but the couple’s daughter had been “severely injured”. Both mother and daughter were airlifted to hospital and the girl’s condition remained “critical” over the weekend. However, the PSNI confirmed this afternoon that the eight-year-old is now “stable” and her mother was discharged from hospital over the weekend. Detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Major Investigation Team said the teenager is due to appear before Omagh Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, September 1. The 16-year-old is charged with murder, two counts of attempted murder and threats to kill.
