It took a Las Vegas jury only three hours to agree that Davis was guilty of first-degree murder with a deadly weapon with the intent to promote, further, or assist a criminal gang in the killing of Shakur. Monday's deliberations, which followed closing arguments - which also took place earlier on Monday - came after nine days of testimony from detectives, former gang associates and documentarians. The trial has revisited the night nearly 30 years ago when Shakur was shot while on his way to perform at a club in Las Vegas. Davis is the only person ever charged regarding the 1996 fatal shooting of Shakur near the Las Vegas Strip. Prosecutors did not allege that Davis himself fired the shots that killed Shakur, instead accusing him orchestrating the killing. It was Davis himself, in a police interview back in 2008, that confirmed his nephew Orlando 'Baby Lane' Anderson fired the shots that killed Tupac, the jury heard last week. He was in the car with Anderson when the shots that would go on to kill the 25-year-old hip-hop superstar were fired. At the time of the 2008 interview, his nephew had been dead for a decade. According to prosecutors during the trial, Davis was full of “visceral anger" after Tupac and his crew allegedly beat up Baby Lane at the MGM Grand earlier that night. Tupac was in town for a gig and for a Mike Tyson fight. Hours later, Tupac was fatally shot in the now-infamous drive-by shooting just off the Las Vegas Strip. In 1997, Shakur's mother Afeni Shakur filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Anderson. The legal battle was reportedly settled out for court shortly before Anderson's death in 1998. He was killed in a shootout at a car wash in Compton, California, in a row over drug money. Police say his death was unrelated to the Shakur investigation. On Monday, Shakur's family appeared emotional as the guilty verdict against Duane “Keffe D” Davis was read out to the court. While there were no audible reactions in the courtroom, Tupac's sister, Sekyiwa 'Set' Shakur, could be seen quietly crying as justice was finally handed down for her brother. Davis appeared straight-faced as the verdict was read. The now 63-year-old briefly raised his fist, looking into the public gallery, as he exited the courtroom after being found guilty. He could now face life in prison without the possibility of parole after he was convicted of Shakur's first-degree murder Monday. Sentencing will come on October 13, with Judge Carli Kierny presiding. But, Davis has already expressed he intends to appeal, telling the judge as such in the minutes after the verdict was handed down.
