Emergency services were called to Hornsea at about 6pm following reports that a boy had got into difficulty in the water. Emergency crews, including Hornsea Inshore Rescue, HM Coastguard and Humberside Police, are involved in the search. The RNLI said its Bridlington all-weather lifeboat has also been launched. Chief Superintendent Phil Booker said: "Our priority now is to find the boy, and members of the public can expect to see specialist Police Search Advisors, along with our Marine Unit and drone pilots, who have also been deployed to conduct an extensive search and rescue operation to locate him." The teen's disappearance comes as many people took to beaches amid the UK's its latest heatwave. Temperatures rose above 30C in parts of the country earlier this week. Monday marked the 20th day of this year when temperatures of 32C or higher were recorded. This exceeding the previous record of 19 days set in 1995. Hornsea Inshore Rescue, HM Coastguard and Humberside Police remain at the scene. The RNLI's Bridlington all-weather lifeboat joined the search. Nine people - including four children - have died in water-related incidents since UK schools broke up for the summer holidays, new figures show. On Monday, a 14-year-old boy died after getting into difficulty in the River Thames at Millwall Outer Dock in east London. On July 29, five-year-old Letti Cole died after being found unresponsive in a body of water in Badsey, Worcestershire. On July 22, Shelina Rahman, 41, and her 15-year-old daughter, Sameeha, died in an incident at West Mersea beach in Essex. Seven-year-old Musa Ahmed, Sameeha's cousin, who was left in a critical condition after the incident, died on July 28. Speaking at the scene, the BBC's Phillip Norton described the atmosphere as "subdued", with emergency services "dotted along the sea wall as far as the eye can see". He added: "Watching on are dozens of members of the public, many looking out to sea where the search has been taking place. "A lifeboat can be seen about a mile offshore, and a coastguard helicopter has been searching up and down the beach and waterline here for some time." Emergency services were called to South Promenade at around 6pm to reports that a teenage boy was in the water. HM Coastguard, the Yorkshire Ambulance Service, Humberside Fire and Rescue Service and Humberside Police were all deployed to the scene.
