Marc Guehi and Declan Rice BACK in England training in huge boost ahead of Norway World Cup clash
ENGLAND received a double boost on Friday night with Marc Guehi and Declan Rice BOTH training ahead of the World Cup quarter-final with Norway. Sir David Beckham gave the squad a pep talk in the gym before the session at his Inter Miami training ground. The Three Lions take on the Vikings at the Miami Stadium on Saturday night. Midfielder Rice, who has been struggling with his long-term hamstring issue and illness, looks certain to play. And manager Thomas Tuchel will make a late call on defender Guehi who has sufferered a hamstring issue. But the fact both trained will have been a relief for Tuchel. Djed Spence still looks set to start at right-back. And that is a major boost for Tuchel, especially with Jarell Quansah suspended following his red card at the Azteca. Tuchel, speaking at the pre-match press conference, said: “The best news is that we had everyone available in training which we, of course, liked. “We have a full choice except for our suspended player Jarell Quansah and that is good news. “We took a big step in our last match but it was only a step. We are still hungry and we still have dreams and a big goal to play for. The next step is to win the quarter-final.” England flew from their Kansas City training base earlier on Friday – while Norway arrived in Miami on Monday, coming directly from New Jersey after beating Brazil on Sunday. And they were greeted in Florida by former captain Beckham. Becks, who was joined by sons Cruz and Romeo, stopped by at his own club’s training ground to see the squad before a light session in the blazing sunshine. Injured Henderson also watched on in a cast. Training got underway at 5pm local time – exactly 24 hours before kick-off at the Miami Stadium on Saturday. Temperatures were 32C at the time with high humidity – and it promises to be brutal conditions for the quarter-final, given the Miami Stadium does not have a roof.
