Mexico star rushed to hospital after suffering horror injury against England in chaotic World Cup clash

MEXICO striker Santiago Gimenez left the Estadio Azteca on a stretcher and was rushed to hospital after suffering a horror injury against England. The AC Milan striker was only subbed on for Mexican wonderkid Gilberto Mora in the 61st minute. And Mexico manager Javier Aguirre revealed after the match that the forward was now in hospital in southern Mexico. He said: “We need to check Santi because he is at the hospital right now.” Some horrific images emerged of the injury, which occurred in the corner of the pitch in the 98th minute as Mexico pushed for an equaliser, showing his ankle bent out of shape. Gimenez was chasing down the ball under pressure from Djed Spence, who won the ball cleanly in the tackle. Coaching staff helped him off the pitch at full-time, with harsh Mexico fans online furious that he didn’t play on. Gimenez was not the only star to be a casualty of the furious battle which commenced in Azteca’s fabled arena in the early hours of Monday morning. England’s Jordan Henderson, who was an unused substitute in the game, suffered a freak injury during the wild celebrations following the Three Lions historic win.
