After a cagey opening half an hour, England took the lead when Jude Bellingham headed in Bukayo Saka’s cross. After a VAR review, right-back Jarrel Quansah was shown a straight red card for a dangerous challenge. But a few minutes later, Harry Kane made no mistake from the penalty spot to make it 3-1 to 10-man England after Anthony Gordon was fouled in the box. Mexico again halved the deficit when they were awarded a penalty of their own after another VAR review. Raul Jimenez put the ball past Pickford to make it 3-2 and set up a tense finale. For beating Mexico, England have set up a quarter-final meeting with Norway. Erling Haaland's brace saw his team come out as 2-1 winners over five-time champions Brazil in their round of 16 clash. The game will be played on Saturday, 11 July at 10pm. Should they overcome Norway, the semi-final on Wednesday, 15 July (8pm) will see them come up against one of Switzerland, Colombia, Argentina or Egypt. The four teams play their round-of-16 matches on Wednesday. If they make it through to the final, then England will play one of France, Morocco, USA, Belgium or Spain.
