Sarah Pochin breaks down in tears during emotional Commons statement

Her remarks came as Sir Keir Starmer issued a 'deep and profound' apology to the victims of the historic forced adoption scandal Sarah Pochin fought back tears in the House of Commons as she revealed her late mother had been pressured into giving up a baby for adoption. The Reform UK MP told her fellow Commons members her mother “carried her secret to her grave”. “When I found out, I tried to find my sibling but drew a blank. I had to pay privately to find him. And we've now been united." Breaking down, Ms Pochin asked: “Can the Prime Minister assure those affected that the new systems and resources will be given the funding they need to reunite families?” Sir Keir Starmer thanked Runcorn and Helsby MP for sharing her “very powerful” story, saying she had shown “huge courage” in speaking on behalf of her mother. “I'm glad that there has been that reuniting, but it can't be the painful journey that she's just described,” he said, adding: “We have to do better than that, and we will.” Our Standards: The GB News Editorial Charter Keep reading...Show less
