The defence was shaky, and if it wasn’t for Bellingham, England could have toiled for much longer. June 27, 2026 11:52 pm Panama goal ruled out England 2-0 PanamaWhen we said time for another… Panama have the ball in the net but the offside flag rightly goes up to deny Fajardo his big moment. That is a heck of an achievement for an outfield player and speaks volumes for how highly he’s rated in this camp. Read my piece on his input here.Watkins is also on for Kane with around 10 minutes to go. June 27, 2026 11:38 pm Why is Kane still on? England 2-0 PanamaKane still on. Tuchel has a word with Watkins but no movement from the Aston Villa striker.Does Kane really need to still be out there? June 27, 2026 11:33 pm Game over Pete HallNorth-West Football Correspondent Reporting from MetLife StadiumGame over, right? Panama weren’t going to be able to sit off forever, with England’s quality showing through. Wonderful play from Bellingham again, who has been a real asset in that new position. He goes off with Eze replacing him. Tuchel rightly resting his best player now the job seems to be done. June 27, 2026 11:28 pm Goal! Kane doubles England’s lead Michael HincksSports writer Panama 0-2 EnglandLike London buses… Kane becomes England’s leading goalscorer at World Cups, heading in from Bellingham’s pinpoint cross. Eleven goals on the World Cup stage for our ‘Arry. June 27, 2026 11:24 pm Jude the fitting goalscorer Daniel StoreySport Feature Writer of the Year Reporting from the United StatesBellingham is the only one who beats a man, the only one who breaks the lines and, in this game, the only one who really looks urgent.Fitting that he scores. June 27, 2026 11:22 pm Goal! Bellingham gives England lead just after hour-mark Michael HincksSports writer Panama 0-1 EnglandSet Piece FC. It’s a goal from a corner and it’s Bellingham to the rescue, meeting Saka’s cross from just outside the six-year area, getting the crucial touch. If you’re an England fan: phew. June 27, 2026 11:21 pm Quansah down… Panama 0-0 EnglandYou can’t make this up. Reece James’ replacement is down, feeling his ankle, and it doesn’t look great for Quansah. He hobbles off for further treatment and looks in some discomfort.Djed Spence is ready to replace him, with Noni Madueke also coming on. June 27, 2026 11:19 pm Bellingham frustrated Mark DouglasNorthern Football Correspondent Reporting from MetLife StadiumJude Bellingham just booted an advertising hoarding after going round a couple of Panama defenders and seeing his cross deflected behind. He looks very frustrated out there and that – traditionally – isn’t a great sign with England’s talisman. Harry Kane gives him a little pat on the back but clearly England not enjoying this. June 27, 2026 11:18 pm Kane denied! Panama 0-0 EnglandMoments after Rodriguez bends an effort just wide for Panama, Kana then forces Mosquera to make a decent but comfortable save. Kane goes for power when placement might have been better. But hey I’m not Harry Kane. June 27, 2026 11:15 pm Wide from Rashford Panama 0-0 EnglandNow the side netting for Rashford from a tight angle. Kane was free in the middle and wanted the ball. Rashford didn’t see him. June 27, 2026 11:12 pm How did that stay out? Panama 0-0 EnglandSomehow England haven’t taken the lead. Almost an own goal in truth after Rashford’s cross causes all sorts of problems and Andrade’s clearance hits his teammate and goes just over the bar. A foul is then given for Kane’s involvement in all that, which feels harsh. June 27, 2026 11:10 pm Rashford runs into brick wall Michael HincksSports writer Panama 0-0 EnglandGroans from the England fans audible from my house as Rashford runs and runs and runs but then just runs into a Panamanian brick wall. Needs to do more than that with England in a promising position on the counter. June 27, 2026 11:05 pm Second half under way Michael HincksSports writer Panama 0-0 EnglandBack under way. Things can only get better?Roy Keane just compared England to Scotland on ITV…Yeah. That bad. June 27, 2026 11:02 pm My gripe with wingers Kevin GarsideChief Sports Correspondent Rashford no more capable than Gordon of getting to the byline on the left. Both right-footed.
