ITV coverage ‘interrupted ‘as Laura Woods left ‘terrified’ during half-time of World Cup clash between Turkey and USA
ITV’S World Cup coverage of Turkey’s clash with the USA was interrupted live on air. The broadcaster was at half-time of the Group D clash, with already-eliminated Turkey holding a 2-1 lead over the host nation. But as the broadcast returned from an advertising break, fireworks could be seen and heard going off in the background of the ITV studio. Presenter Laura Woods welcomed viewers back to the programme and said: “Our half-time has been interrupted by some quite incredible fireworks behind us. “We’re not really sure why yet.” Woods showed extreme professionalism by continuing to speak as the fireworks went off.
