'Safer than the car!' Simon Calder assures Britons after fatal Bedford train crash

'The whole rail industry, as you all appreciate, is in shock over this,' the travel expert said Travel expert Simon Calder has assured Britons that trains remain safe in the wake of the fatal Bedford crash. Speaking to GB News, he insisted that travelling by train was far safer than doing so by car. “Such a desperately, desperately sad tragedy. Let us hope, of course, that the nine people in critical condition recover. “The whole rail industry, as you all appreciate, is in shock over this. And rail passengers may be thinking, oh goodness, is it safe to travel by rail? “It remains the case that you are far, far safer on a train than you are in a car on the roads,” Mr Calder said.
