It was a double from substitute Deniz Undav that saw Germany defeat Ivory Coast 2-1 with Liverpool transfer target Yan Diomande struggling to make an impact for the latter. Gary Lineker was part of ITV's coverage for that clash and appeared to issue a subtle BBC jibe. Ecuador vs Curacao followed those two games with the latter securing an unthinkable point after drawing 0-0 against the South American side. Tunisia's must-win match against Japan is the final clash of the day but they got off to the worst possible start with the latter 2-0 up after just 30 minutes. Yes the calibre of opponent is lower but Ecuador are an impressive side but have been frustrated for 80 minutes with Curacao goalkeeper Eloy Room having made a staggering 14 saves so far. Reports in the last couple of weeks have suggested that Manchester United and Liverpool are interested in him. Speculation suggests that the German club would be attentive to offers in excess of £60million. The 25-year-old is doing all the right things so far, he combined with Florian Wirtz in the group opener against Curacao. Could this be the tournament that catapults him to the Premier League? Watch this space. We are level! Deniz Undav has equalised for Germany. Julian Nagelsmann rolled the dice on the hour mark and it has paid off. It's a superb ball from the right and Undav ghosts in to finish with aplomb. Yan Diomande this, Yan Diomande that. A player who is really making an impression tonight is Christ Inao Oulai, 20, from Trabzonspor. The midfielder has just got himself out of a pickle with ease, really impressive to see. A one-two with Amad sees the ball back at his feet inside the Germany 18-yard box but he can't keep his effort down. Inside the first hour, he has completed the joint-most dribbles (4). Having seen Sweden dismantled in Houston, manager Graham Potter was taking no prisoners himself in his post match press conference. Potter might have been through the mill, during woeful spells as manager of Chelsea and then West Ham. But even these didn't see him lose his cool or steer too far that calm demeanour he is famous for. But when asked what he got wrong with his tactics, to find himself on the wrong end of a five goal drubbing from the Netherlands, the Englishman let his guard slip. Using a blanket as a very bad analogy for what had transpired, while sarcastically asking members of the media to offer him some help. He said: "Sometimes it's not about tactically. It's like that bad blanket - when you pull it up, your feet get cold, and when you pull it down, your shoulders get cold. "They're (Netherlands) good everywhere. And Koeman believes his first season in English football with Sunderland has made Brobbey a fitter and more physical forward. Koeman said: "He has become really fit in the Premier League. He has had a season where at first he didn’t play, and then he took his chances and is super fit. "I read he was unable to play for 90 minutes in the Premier League, and now he is fitter and sharper. And I'm very happy with that. 'His general fitness and sharpness at training sessions as well. With some players, things happen later than with others. He was not at the top of his fitness - but he is now." The win has propelled the Netherlands to the top of Group F. And Koeman is hoping it gives his side lift off - and strike fear into future opponents, including group rivals Tunisia. He added: "It could be, that the way we play builds confidence. "Now we have slightly more peace of mind with four points, and you can build on that. "If you look at the goals we scored, it will build fear among other teams. They know we can be dangerous. "A complete game is impossible - but we are on the right track." Franck Kessie's strike is the difference so far. Yan Diomande has been the creative spark for Ivory Coast, he had a slow start but came alive after the break and played a key part in the opener, he probably should have an assist but desperate defending thwarted Amad. It is the first real test for Germany and they are struggling to break their opponents down.
