Mass shooting injures nine near England's World Cup base in Kansas City; separate Penn Station stabbing injures five in New York
A mass shooting occurred on Troost Avenue in Kansas City, Missouri, at approximately 4am on Saturday, injuring nine adults with non-life-threatening wounds. Three women were initially transported to hospital, with the remaining victims attending various hospitals independently. The location is approximately four miles from Swope Soccer Village, where England's football squad will be based during the 2026 World Cup group stage. England are currently in Florida and are due to arrive in Kansas City on June 13. No suspects have been arrested. Separately, five people were injured in a stabbing at Penn Station in New York City around 7pm EST. One person suffered serious injuries. A suspect described as emotionally disturbed was apprehended by Amtrak police following a manhunt. The attack was described by law enforcement as a random act of violence.
